Folding Lawn Chair
Some things remain the same for decades, and others are constantly changing. For the longest time, at least in my lifetime, a lawn chair was always just a lawn chair. There were different varieties from which to choose, but for the most part, they didn’t change. Then suddenly, there were different ones everywhere, and these were far more handy and much more durable than the models that we had been using for a long time.
You remember the old kind of lawn chair right? It had a crisscrossed material that cut into your legs when you were wearing shorts. They had a metal frame, and they were not all that sturdy. If there was a light wind, they toppled over and blew across the lawn. They often frayed, and were rendered useless if one of the straps came loose. I never really liked them, but they folded and could be carried anywhere, and were easy to store. They remained the standard for quite a long time. There were also more expensive models that my grandparents owned. They were entirely made of metal. These never blew away, but they were not very portable.
Then one day I found a new kind of lawn chair that put the old kind to shame. The old style has all but faded away now, and almost everyone has this new version. They are mostly made of a tent like material, and they have a sturdier base. They fold up and can be put into a carrying bag and slung over your shoulder like a backpack. I love this type of lawn chair, and they are everywhere. I have a few in my car trunk, some near my front door, and I think there are a few extras in my closet. Some are small and can fit almost anywhere, and these can be used as a seat at any public event, sporting event, or just when you need a seat when none are available.
This type of lawn chair is easy to clean, very durable, and some come with extras like footrests and cup holders. They are great for camping out in the middle of nowhere, or for a relaxing afternoon in the back yard. They aren’t that expensive either. I think I got the first one I owned for four dollars. It didn’t have a lot of extras, but it was still a great lawn chair. Though some things are always best in their classic form, the lawn chair is one thing that has improved with age.
