Lawnmower Belts

Many people use a lawnmower and have no idea how it actually works. The most simple of lawnmowers can intimidate even very intelligent people. The main thing that people associate with a lawn mower is the enlarged blades on its belly.

The lawnmower is run usually on a gas engine that uses a series of pulleys that move a rubber belt and in turn the blade. The real difficulty is when the belt breaks. There are literally hundreds of lawnmower belts and this can be a daunting task. I’ve actually known people who have gone out and bought a new lawnmower thinking there’s was forever dead, just because the belt broke.

There are a number of businesses out there that offer to replace this part for a low fee. Most of the lawnmower belts are only about fifteen to twenty dollars to purchase and the rest is the labor to get the new belt mounted. The older lawnmower belts tend to break or will get stretched. This is bound to happen over time.

Most of the process that is involved in replacing is fairly simple, but it really depends on who is doing the work. As most lawnmowers have their own unique design and they typically have their own lawnmower belts, it’s best to turn to an expert to get the job done. Someone who is skilled in the repair of small engines can have the belt replaced in the blink of an eye.

Some of the people that have tried to repair their own lawnmowers have ended up with pretty horrific injuries. This has encouraged many people to let someone else replace broken lawnmower belts. This is especially beneficial if the lawnmower is one that is a riding mower or one that has multiple functions. These have many subsystems and frankly they are just too complicated for the average backyard mechanic. This means that unless the person is proficient in repairing a lawnmower or has at least some passing knowledge in how lawnmower belts work, they shouldn’t be even attempting to do the fix themselves.

With these things in mind, the best place to turn to when you need a repair is the depot where you first purchased the lawnmower. In most cases they will have a wide assortment of lawnmower belts and they are skilled in replacing them. They may be expensive compared to most places, but they usually have a warranty to their work as well. This is actually a great thing as some lawnmower belts could be defective and with a warranty in place, you may be entitled to a new one at no charge.
